Specifications for Economy Modern Retread:
- Color: Not color or grain matched. Mineral and streaks are allowed. Both sap and heart wood allowed in oaks.
- Defects: Knots avoided but allowed on good side and nose of tread. No holes. Back side of tread unlimited defects.
- Filler: Allowed
- Glue seams may not be 100% complete at ends

xFound Whitewater Forest online when looking for a new set of treads and risers for my stairs. I looked nearby in Portland OR but pricing was too dear for my taste. Then I came across the Whitewaterr Forest offerings and found what I looked for at a much better price. Despite the U$255 shipping fee i still came out at a better price. Quality of the wood is up to par. The shipment arrived neatly packaged. One box initially missed from the shipment but that arrived at the house one day later. The finished stairs are exactly what I had hoped for. I would buy again from Whitewater Forest.

The treads we bought were an overstock & were available at a great price. We also live close enough that we were able to pick up instead of paying for delivery. We placed them over existing stairs to our basement and they look beautiful. They were unfinished, so we sanded & put on a clear protective finish (4 coats.) Did not stain, as I wanted the natural wood color. Hubby cut them down to size, used lots of stair tread glue and a screw gun to anchor them securely. Would recommend Whitewater Forest Products - their website described items well & a subsequent call to them answered my remaining questions.
